Education Ministry Mission: To help make disciples of Christ by equipping and supporting the members of First & Emmanuel to reach out in the love of Christ to our Community and our World. Children & Youth We are dedicated to bringing children up with the knowledge and understanding of the Lord, His Word and His Will. We teach our children & youth through a variety of age-appropriate activities and classes. Sunday Morning: Ü Sunday School Our children’s Sunday School program is divided by age and reading ability with classes for preschool, early elementary, late elementary, Jr. High and Sr. High aged kids. Ü Children’s Sermon Every Sunday during the worship service, children ages 2-12 are invited to a special teaching time with the Pastor.. Each week a child takes home the gospel bag, fills it with an object and brings it back. Then the Pastor is given the object and has to link it to the gospel! These short messages are a fun way that the kids can participate directly in the worship service and be reminded that Jesus loves them. Ü Children’s Church Children ages 3-9 have their own teaching time while the adults are listening to the sermon. They are taught to participate in the worship service before and after the sermon and still taught on their level. Mid-Week: Ü Family Night On Wednesday nights, we have a teaching time and craft that parents and children participate in together that focuses on biblical parenting and family skills designed for parents and children ages 4-11 and activities for children of all ages. Ü Confirmation Our junior high aged students spend two years in intense study of God’s Word and the basis of our beliefs. They meet with the Pastor every Wednesday night from Easter to the end of November to study the Old Testament and the New Testament. Every other Sunday afternoon, they and their parents/sponsor meet with the Pastor to study the doctrine of the church. Adults At First & Emmanuel, learning is a life-long activity. Through the study of God’s Word, we strive to grow our faith and mature as Christians Sunday Morning: Ü Adult Bible Study We have adult Bible Study classes for different levels of learning and interests. There is everything from a basics of the Christian faith class to an in-depth intensive Bible Study to a look at the Bible one chapter at a time. Mid-Week: Ü Small Group Our small group ministry links up people in either geographic groups or by interests. These groups integrate fellowship, Bible Study, and prayer. Ü Workshops We host occasional workshops on various topics including prayer, evangelism, and spiritual growth. |
