Family Ministry

Mission:  To enrich and minister to the families within our congregation and to create opportunities to reach out to new families in the love of God in Jesus Christ.

We are a family oriented church that desires to minster to all kinds of families – whether they consist of parents with children at home, empty nesters, singles, or anything in-between.  Our family ministry seeks to, well…minister to the whole family through fellowship, the study of God’s word, intergenerational events, and by paying particular attention to the unique needs and demands facing families in today’s world.  Have your family join our family at Family Ties, Confirmation & in our Family Fellowship Events. 

Evangelism Ministry

Mission:  To help make disciples of Christ by equipping and supporting the members of First & Emmanuel to reach out in the love of Christ to our Community and our World. 

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we as Christians are called to be the Lord’s witness in our cities, communities, states, nations, and to the whole world.  At First and Emmanuel, we make sharing our faith and serving others a priority of our church and of our lives.   We strive to impact our community throughout the year with outreach & service events.  We also reach out to the whole world through our missionaries and short-term mission trips. 

Education Ministry

Mission:  To help mature disciples of Christ through the study of God’s Word and Will.     

Learning is a lifelong journey that is vital to both old and new Christians, to the young and the not-so-young.  Our education ministry is dedicated to bringing children up with knowledge and understanding of the Lord, and growing all Christians in their faith through the study of God’s Word.  We teach our children through Sunday School, Children’s Church, Children’s Sermons, and Confirmation.  We learn together as adults through Sunday Morning Bible Studies, small groups, and workshops.

Children’s Ministry

Mission:  To help our children grow in wisdom and in the knowledge of God and man.     

Children are a precious gift that God has entrusted to us so that we may guide them in their faith and help them grow into God-fearing adults.  Our children’s ministry focuses on both teaching children about Jesus on their level and making church a fun place they will want to attend as they grow older.  We serve our children through Sunday School, Children’s Church, Children’s sermons, Confirmation, and annual events such as VBS and a Christmas program.   

 

Youth Ministry

Mission:  To help today’s youth mature into a vibrant faith in Jesus Christ.

Junior High and Senior High students are in an amazing time of their lives where they actively shape who they want to be and what they want to do with the rest of their lives.  They are stepping away from having their parents’ make every decision for them and learning how to become more independent.  In this critical time, we strive to ground our youth deeply in their faith through Confirmation and create lifelong Christian friendships through our youth events.

 

Music Ministry

Mission:  To make a joyful noise to the Lord and to enhance our worship of Him.

As King David said, it is good to praise the LORD and make music to His name.  Music has been called the language of the soul and the literature of the heart.  We use music to enhance our worship services and be a blessing to both those who make music and those who hear it.  Our choir sings from September to May, and we have occasional music from the children, a hand bell choir, and solos or ensembles.
 

 

Library Ministry

Mission:  To support the church’s mission of enabling individuals to develop a deeper understanding of the faith and their full potential as children of God in God’s kingdom and to support the spiritual ministry of teaching, preaching, and evangelistic efforts of First & Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

We actively maintain an extensive library including: books; Christian magazines; and videos/DVDs that represent Christian values and teach Christian wisdom.  Our library is staffed by two volunteer librarians and is largely cataloged on line.  We receive new titles regularly and encourage everyone to either enjoy our cozy library space or take a book home to enjoy by yourself or with your family.
