Registered trademark of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Can there be any stronger symbol of Christian identity than the cross? Surely it is symbolic of the despair and grief of sin. Yet as an empty cross, it is symbolic of hope, joy, and promise that God himself suffered and overcame the wages of sin through Jesus Christ. The logo for The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod appropriately continues the symbolism of the cross. Three crosses are yet one cross, recalling the "Unity in Trinity and the Trinity in Unity" confessed in the Athanasian Creed.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

Emmanuel Lutheran ChurchEmmanuel Lutheran Church, a satellite ministry started by First Lutheran Church of Birmingham, became reality on April 1, 2001, when construction for Emmanuel Lutheran Church began with ground breaking ceremonies on the almost eleven acres of property located at 5227 Cahaba Valley Cove in North Shelby County, Alabama.  Pastor Kurtis Schultz turned the first shovel of earth to commemorate this historical event.  The ceremonies were begun with prayer followed by the singing of hymns, and fifty or so friends and family of First Lutheran Church spent time rejoicing in God's presence at this beautiful place.  Work on this project is finally officially started after more than three years of hard work and struggle.  It was uplifting to see three generations of members represented at this gathering.

We have finished construction on Phase One, and we've been in the new facility for about two years.  It has really been a blessing!  Now it's time to focus on Phase Two.  Attendance has been steadily increasing every Sunday, and we are optimistic that we'll move ahead sooner than you might think.  All glory to Him who is everything!
