I
am continually amazed and astounded at the generosity of God’s people. To have
been welcomed with such open arms by a people to whom we are still mostly
strangers is a great blessing. Cheryl and I both hope to become “not-strangers”
to y’all, maybe even fixin’ to learn how to talk Alabaman (or at least try
anyway). No matter how we speak though, you all have already demonstrated
through word and deed the great capacity for love and generosity of spirit that
defines the Community of Saints. I could not have asked for a better reception,
and I thank you for that.
